My Dick Clark Connection

Click for larger imageSince yesterday there was a death of an American icon, Dick Clark, I just wanted to tell you all an interesting little story. I sort of have a slight connection to Dick as he was the original owner of the property were Iron Sport Gym now sits. Back in the early sixties Dick owned a string of drive in burger joints called ‘The Steer Inn’ in the surrounding Philly area. One of them stood right here on the corner of Chester Pike and South Ave. My parents used to take me and my brother out here when we were little kids for burgers and shakes and we used to love it. Part of the existing gym building was actually built around the old restaurants structure. The only thing left of it is some of the old structural steel that is still within our building and the memories of those yummy shakes.
